Privacy Policy

Effective August 1, 2026

Forever Filed helps you scan and safely keep your family’s important documents. Because those documents are personal, we want to be clear and plain about what we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe. If anything here is unclear, please email me at darrenadouglas@gmail.com.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the app for you:

  • Your account email. You sign in with Sign in with Apple or with an emailed sign-in code. We use your email to identify your account and to send you sign-in codes.
  • Your scanned documents. This includes the images you scan and the text we read from them. These documents may contain sensitive information such as health, identity, legal, and financial details.
  • Your questions to the Ask feature. When you ask a question about your documents, we collect the question you type.

How AI is used

By default, when you scan a document, we send it to our AI provider, Anthropic, so it can automatically give the document a title and file it in the right place for you. When you use the Ask feature, your question and the relevant document content are also sent to Anthropic to produce an answer.

Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. It is used only to provide these features to you.

Private scans

You can scan any document as a private scan, with no AI involved. Private scans are never sent to Anthropic or any other AI provider.

Private scans are still uploaded to our servers — encrypted while they travel and while they are stored — so that search can find them later. Private scans are not kept only on your phone.

Your Ask history

The questions you ask and the answers you receive are saved to your account so you can look back at them whenever you like.

How we store and protect your information

  • Your information is encrypted while it travels to and from our servers (TLS) and while it is stored on our servers (encrypted at rest).
  • Each person’s documents are kept separate from everyone else’s. This separation is enforced at the database layer, so one account cannot see another account’s documents.
  • On iPhone and iPad, you can turn on a Face ID or Touch ID app lock so only you can open the app on your device.

Your trusted person and emergency access

You can name a trusted person who may request access to your vault. Your documents are shared with them only after access has been granted. Until then, they cannot see your documents.

Deleting your account and documents

You are in control. At any time, you can delete your account and all of your documents from Settings in the iOS app. This is a permanent erasure.

What we never do

We do not sell your data, and we do not show you advertising.
